On a warm, sunny day with a light wind the two antagonists,Norman Williams and Wyn Jones, set out to compete in the last of the winter competitions for  The Peters’ Plate. It was a privilege to act as referee for the game between two good golfers. There were some remarkable shots from both players and at the turn there was only one hole difference, but this changed after the 14th when Wyn stretched his lead to lie dormie 4. This set the adrenalin flowing in Norman who pulled back to win the next 3 holes and the result all hinged on the final hole. The final hole produced a half in 4 which gave Wyn the victory in an oh! so close match and congratulations must go to both players for a great final

Thursday 25th April 2013 – Seniors Winter League Final

On a damp, misty morning with a light wind blowing the Seniors Winter League Final took place between Colin Rumbelow and Roger Evans. Colin had to give Roger 20 shots (which was their handicap difference) putting huge pressure on him to win the game. Both Colin and Roger played some excellent Golf with the game swinging one way and then the other – holes were being halved with birdies & pars and at times Colin’s putting was able to keep him in contention. The game was all square after nine holes and it was not until the 15th hole  that Roger lost a little of his concentration and let Colin in by gifting him the hole and enabling him to go 2 up with 3 holes to play. The game came to the end on the next hole on which both players hit some wayward shots but resulted in Colin chipping in from off the green to win it. The final result was a win for Colin by 3 & 2 but congratulations go to both players for an excellent Winter League Final.
