Travel from Main Airports & Ferry Terminals

For all Rail journeys your destination station is BRIDGEND, approx. 8 miles (13km) from South Cornelly. Follow the link to determine exact routes. Taxis take about 20 minutes to travel from Bridgend to Porthcawl and are available outside the front of the railway station. A local bus service is also available. Approximate travel times are given.

M roads are motorways, A roads are intercity trunks and B roads are minor roads. For travelers from abroad, please note that we drive on the LEFT in the UK.

Road 3:00 hrs Follow signs to the M4 motorway and then travel West towards South Wales. After a couple of hours, you will need to cross the Severn Estuary Toll bridge. Another hours driving should see you at junction 37 of the M4. Local Directions are available from here.
Rail 3:10 hrs Take the train from Heathrow Airport to London Paddington and change for a South Wales service to Bridgend.
Gatwick

Road 4:00 hrs Follow signs to the M23 motorway North towards London. Turn West onto the M25 and later West again onto the M4. Then follow the directions from Heathrow above.
Rail 3:25 hrs Take the train from Gatwick Airport to Reading and change for a South Wales service to Bridgend.

Road 0:40 hrs Outside the North of the airport take the B4265 West past Llantwit Major, St Brides Major and Ewenny to Bridgend (approx 16 miles). At the roundabout junction with the A48, turn left. Approximately 5 miles on at the 4th roundabout, still on the A48, turn left towards the M4 (junction 37). Go straight across the intersection onto the A4229. Local Directions are available from here.

Road 4:30 hrs Take the A20 to Folkstone where you can join the M20 for London. Join the M25 West to circumvent London and then join the M4 for South Wales. Follow the directions from Heathrow above.
Rail 5:00 hrs The train from Dover Priory goes to London Charing Cross. Take a tube to London Paddington from where you can catch a train to South Wales and Bridgend.

Road 1:45 hrs Take the A40 out of Fishguard towards Haverfordwest. Some 49 miles further on, at Carmarthen, take the A48 towards Swansea. Another 15 miles brings you to the start of the M4 which you should take as far as junction 37, 26 miles away. Local Directions are available from here.
Rail 2:20 hrs From Fishguard Harbour, catch a train direct to Bridgend. Occasionally, you may be required to change at Swansea.
Holyhead

Road 5:00 hrs From Holyhead the short route is down the West coast of Wales, but this route is less complex and faster. Take the A5 for 25 miles out of Holyhead and off the island of Anglesey. Shortly after, take the A55 for 50 miles East towards Conwy. When approaching Chester, follow signs for the M56 and take this for 17 miles to the junction with the M6. Turn right (South) for 65 miles and the junction with the M5 to the South West. After 38 miles turn right onto the M50 to Ross on Wye. Follow this and the A449 for 52 miles to the M4 near Newport. Turn right and another 37 miles bypassing Cardiff will get you to junction 37 of the M4. Local Directions are available from here.
Rail   Rail travel from Holyhead varies enormously. Times vary from under 5:30hrs to over 6:10hrs with from 1 to 3 changes. Please follow the Rail link.
